Welcome to our Missouri Music Educators Association’s newly
revised website! Karen Stafford, MMEA Website Coordinator, has
done a masterful job in making our website more user friendly
and providing useful information for our members.
Some our website’s features include a “News &
Events” section that deals with state and national news
pertinent to music education. The “Advocacy” section
contains news from the Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education, contact information for members of the Missouri Senate
and House of Representatives, information about Music In Our Schools
Month, links to ideas and resources related to advocacy, and other
useful information. A link to the MENC website gives our members
immediate access to the tremendous amount of information provided
by our national organization.
Articles written by Board of Directors members for the Missouri
School Music Magazine will be archived on the website. This should
make referencing past articles much easier for our members.
The handouts from many of the workshops at our recent conference
are a valuable addition found in the “Convention”
section. Often, sufficient numbers of handouts were not available
at the time of the workshop, so making them available on our website
will help everyone have access to the information.
Under “Curriculum Information” you will find information
about Grade Level Expectations [GLE’s], the Show-Me Standards,
and the National Standards for music. Having access to this information
all in one place should prove very helpful when writing curriculum
or making presentations about our music programs.
The “Leadership Information” section has contact information
for Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and our District Presidents.
Links to our eleven districts are contained under the “District
Information” section, and the “Forms” section
has our Application for Performance, Video Order Forms, the MMEA
Hall of Fame Nomination Form, and many others. You will also find
links to MSHSAA and our affiliate organizations.
The “Convention” section will contain information
pertinent to our annual conference/clinic, and will provide online
registration information. Eventually, we hope you will be able
to pay your MENC/MMEA dues via our website!
Finally, a “Discussion Forum” will allow members to
interact with questions, ideas, concert dates, and other information
that should prove very helpful and interesting.
Our goal for some time has been to provide our members with a
website that is easy to navigate, provides information that is
useful, makes the registration process more efficient, and represents
MMEA in a positive manner. Although we still have a few things
to work out, I think you’ll agree this new website goes
a long way toward meeting those goals!
